He believes that if the country ignores working on budget deficit the damage done to the nation will be catastrophic. Brooks is opposed to increasing taxes and will not support raising the debt ceiling unless cuts of between 300 and 500 billion dollars are made.

Brooks has also stated that he supports the Fair Tax proposal.

Representative Brooks is in favor of reducing the amount of money that goes to foreign aid. He believes that "we cannot continue to be the world police."

Sadly, his thinking is widespread across the state.
