The Right, The Left and the Middle have come out swinging against a common enemy.
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 07:44 PM by Snoutport
After sponging up so much of the latest phone hacking scandal I have seen something that I did not dare dream could happen. Politicians from all across the spectrum, have taken this opportunity of phone hacking, to attack Rupert Murdoch and remove his presence from the British media and to release his stranglehold on British Democracy.

It is a beautiful thing.

These are portions of a new story at the Guardian:

Executives who sanctioned phone hacking and other illegal activities at the News of the World and other newspapers will be barred from running any media organisation in the UK, David Cameron has announced. (My words: So, with much probability, James Murdoch will not be able to take over for Rupert Murdoch. Rupert Murdoch, himself may have to leave News Corp. News Corp may have to sell off the 39% of BSkyB that they already own. Just like that, gone. (It is possible, at least)
These are portions of a new story at the Guardian:

The prime minister, who held talks on Tuesday night with Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg, said Leveson would lead a "robust" inquiry set up under the 2005 Inquiries Act.

"The inquiry will … have the power to summon witnesses including newspaper reporters, management, proprietors, policemen and politicians of all parties to give evidence under oath and in public," he said.

2. That is great news.
Do you think he is quoting existing law or has he finally grown a spine. Either way, the Murdoch family will be gone from the British media. Now lets hope they start taking a closer look at him on this side of the pond.

4. Off with their heads, I say
Imagine what some of England's earlier monarchs would do with the Murdochs.

5. Let's see what happens now that it has crossed the pond
You did predict that this was going to be huge and that was a euphemism for this scandal of scandals.
Watch the 9/11 mess and think Kerik and his beloved St Rudy.
