Hail, torrential rain strikes DIA stranding about 1,000 travelers

About 1,000 travelers spent the night at Denver International Airport after hail damage grounded airplanes.

A severe thunderstorm that swept over DIA on Wednesday night unleashed 3/4-inch hail for about 15 minutes, damaging some planes and vehicles at the facility, said Laura Coale, an airport spokeswoman.

An official with the Federal Aviation Administration said today that all flights at DIA were halted for 27 minutes. At one point observers recorded a 75-knot microburst.

Also on Twitter, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said he was heading to the bi-partisan National Governors Association meetings and got stuck at DIA where he "slept on the floor" but "did get a pillow & blanket."

2. if there were union personell handing out pillows and blankets
and they knew who he was, he would have had to use a roll of TP for a pillow and wrap himself in it to keep warm.

6. No. He spent the night.
All flights were halted for 27 minutes. Then they had to check the damaged planes. They're still doing it.
