The guy cashes in if the U.S. defaults on its' loans:

---GOP Lawmaker Refuses To Believe The Fact That Rep. Eric Cantor Is Shorting U.S. Treasury Bonds

Last month, Salon reported that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) is personally invested in a fund that “aggressively ‘shorts’ long-term U.S. Treasury bonds, meaning that it performs well when U.S. debt is undesirable.” Cantor owns up to $15,000 in the fund, which is called the ProShares Trust Ultrashort 20+ Year Treasury ETF. Cantor, who leads the House GOP’s debt ceiling negotiations, would see his ETF rise dramatically in value if Republicans allow the country to default on its debt.---

7. If Steny Hoyer was doing this, every single MSM whore would be screaming about it.
But since it's Eric Cantor, it's radio silence.

10. My faith in humanity is faultering.
The guy is a weasel. But...I just can't believe that anyone, ANYONE, could throw an entire country under the bus to make a few bucks. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I want to believe that even he couldn't be that sick. I need to believe it was just a coincidence in order to believe in the human soul.

Someone tell me I'm right. It was just a fluke, right?

11. This is seriously NOT a big deal.
$15,000 is a small investment. Secondly, he can make the argument that he believes that economy will improve, thus driving up bond yields, and increasing the value of his bond shorts.

16. Very bad point, it is a big deal and a highly speculative investment
Glad to see you think having 15G just laying around like small change to throw at ETFs is nothing, it's nice to imagine being one of the 1%ers sometimes. To most people like me, especially those with bank accounts, jobs, obligations and families to take care of, we don't like corrupt politicos speculating on their own legislation, it looks and is CORRUPT AS HELL.

It's a BIG DEAL.
