How the money is spent / debt ceiling drama
Here are the bills for August that will come due and the choices to be made if we don't raise the debt ceiling:

http://about.bgov.com/2011/07/12/august-invoices-show-u-s-treasury%E2%80%99s-limited-choices/

These are the things that tick me off the most:

31.7 billion in defense vendor payments as opposed to the 2.9 for active duty military pay and 2.9 for veterans services.

42.0 billion in "unclassified" that can go to anything from defense to some other kind of spending. I guess even the treasury doesn't even know how in the hell it is being spent.

Now let's look at Medicare - 28.6 billion.

We pay contractors10 times what we pay our military members. 42 billion in God only knows what, and they want to discuss Medicare and Social Security which the American people themselves are paying for?
