The woman in the video has no arms, but she doesn't let that get in the way.

It hasn't slowed her down at all.

And somehow it looks so natural seeing her do things with her feet instead of her hands.

I too would have trouble describing this. Woman is amazing.

I do not understand the Japanese language and saw that she was being interviewed, but I could not understand what she was saying.

So many DUers forget that there are poor and/or rural posters here who don't have the luxury of high speed internet. You could be a bit more considerate in the OP for us, by posting more information about the video so we can decide whether to load it or not (and risk a computer crash).

Open the video link in a new window, then minimize it and continue browsing DU (or whatever).

Then, go back after a few to see if it's loaded.

I have to do this with some videos even with DSL.

You have to get up, get to the circulation desk (which often isn't located near the computer stations), get headphones and get back and download the video. That can take up to 5 minutes of precious time.

Why can't the OP just simply post a short description of what the video is, so poor and rural folks can figure out if they even want the hassle?

That request has been made often enough here on DU you'd think long time posters would understand instead of making a big deal out of it. Instead of posting "teasers", just give a simple explanation like Catwoman ultimately did in her edit.

And "a few" doesn't even begin to describe dialup. It can take up to an hour to load a 3 minute video that ultimately crashes your computer. A little descriptor helps us to understand if the OP's video is worth the risk/time.

Any background? Has she been without her arms her whole life? Boggles the mind to think what kind of left/right brain training it took to get the balance issues under control much less the dexterity.

Unfortunately, this is not an ideal world. No, I don't have to go to the library, am not rural, but I do have challenges that limit what I can access on various sites. Although I'd like to participate fully on all sites that I love and frequent- and no, I'm not saying this as anyone but Jamie- not the person with the little gray person after her name, I can't.

I know that there's content I can't access elsewhere. But there's no reason for me to ask for special treatment beyond what's the normative experience for the site. I may ask someone what was happening in said content, but I'd never want to make the person who posted something feel uncomfortable- a "hey, what's up here" usually works well, imho! :hi: :pals:

I was trying to explain the request for more info on a video link for some DUers. It seemed as though even NYC_Skip didn't understand my request for a fuller explanation of a blind link.

Is this a problem? I didn't think I was asking for "special treatment". IS requesting a fuller explanation "special treatment"?? I'd believe that even people on DSL may want more information, if they are at work for example and wanted to know if it was safe to open on a work computer.

I honestly believe there's more than a few reasons to ask for more info for a blind link in an OP....
