China is just like America. Really. That's what I learned from a co-worker yesterday.

This person had no idea that they are a Communist country.

That picture has been indelibly marked in my mind since I saw it here a few years ago. We suffer from many ills, but we are no China.

2. Has this person ever been to China?
I have and there are stark differences. For instance, while we gripe a lot about the government, they don't because they can't. I know a guy who was a low level staffer in the Clinton from the Clinton days who got detained for four hours simply because he was a low level staffer in the Clinton administration.
No, I'll take life here in the USA over China any day of the week. Warts and all.

7. People's wants are the same world over - but not Governments
People would really really benefit from traveling to other countries

3. Scary
It really gives pause to consider that low-info people are walking & talking & interacting with us every day. They're operating motor vehicles, running machinery, shuffling financial records & otherwise perfoming all manner of duties - all the while lacking enough intellectual curiosity to even wonder about the political system of the most populous nation on the face of the earth. Simply astounding in its vacuosity. Most scary facet of it all? These people can vote - and the patron saint of vacuosity, Sarah Palin, absolutely loves it!

10. A lot of ignorance out there...
However, with respect to China being a Communist country: that was true some years ago. These days, though, it would be more accurate to describe China's political/economic system as authoritarian capitalism. The government controls the actions of the people, but it no longer owns the means of production and distribution, as in true communism. Instead, it regulates who can own businesses and make money, with the result that there are a very few people who are very rich and many who are very poor.

11. They aren't really communist
they tried that for a bit then gave up.

Now the government is quite content to let in capitalism so long as they maintain control of everything else.

They're a totalitarian regime, but not communist.
