Officers Write Tickets So They Can Park Themselves

ATLANTA -- Channel 2 Action News has learned have that the Atlanta Police Department has launched an internal investigation into whether two officers are enforcing parking laws that they then go and break themselves.
Channel 2’s Tony Thomas has obtained cell phone video that investigators are looking at.

Thomas has learned that APD was investigating whether two people wearing Atlanta badges forced drivers parked illegally to move, only so they could park their city cars and go to lunch.

On the video, you hear Oscar, who did not want to be identified beyond his first name, arguing with one of the officers, saying, “You parked on the street to go get your lunch and you was going to write us a ticket?”

“They said ‘yeah we work for the city, these are city cars and we can do that,’” Oscar said. “You think they were just moving people so they could park, that's exactly what they were doing, so they could park.”
