Officials: Nude Man Had Gun In Forest

SALT LAKE CITY -- Authorities said a Florida man faces federal misdemeanor charges after witnesses reported seeing him wandering around a national forest campground naked and armed with a pistol.

Joseph Alfieri is charged in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City with being publicly nude and causing annoyance.

Authorities said they were called Sunday to the Cobble Rest Campground in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest near Heber City. They said witnesses reported seeing Alfieri wandering around the woods wearing nothing but a gun holster while carrying a pistol and yelling at the river.

Rangers later arrested the man and seized two pistols and a knife.

4. "wearing nothing but a gun holster" Well technically he wasn't "nude" then.
Hopefully his lawyer will note that on the "publicly nude" charge. It might be a question of how the holster was positioned. Hard to argue the "causing annoyance" charge though. But again, a resourceful lawyer could argue selective prosecution - lots of people cause annoyance but they aren't arrested for it.

5. I didn't see a problem with what he was doing...
...until they said he was "yelling at the river". He had a pistol, no need to yell.

9. It was an honest mistake.
Somebody told him to go out in the woods and get a bear.

So he got bare and went out in the woods.

10. Was he wearing an American flag like a cape, and belting out "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"
While snapping his fingers like Carmen Miranda's castinets?

If not then it couldn't have been me.
