Like I said many times before.... I will vote to reelect president Obama...
But I will not donate any money, will not do any work, won't even put a yard sign up or a bumper sticker on...

There is no realistic chance another democrat can challenge him and quite frankly, I would discourage anyone who tried.

But being realistic about it, president Obama, warts and all, is still far superior to anyone of stature in the republican party.

No, I am looking down the ticket and will support progressive candidates across the country and here in Ohio.

Mrs. WCGreen feels the same way.

She was a volunteer coordinator here in the western suburbs of Cleveland. She refuses to do anything more than vote for the man.

I know some will say it is just a gesture, a meaningless drop in the bucket.

But it is my gesture, no matter how small it is, and I will make it proudly and with the conviction that I believe it is the right thing to do.

1. I've held my nose to vote before.
This time I'll be holding my nose while voting for Obama, and puking my guts as I leave the polling place.

I can't stand him. :puke:

5. "I can't stand him."
You hate him? You mean that's not hyperbole?

"This time I'll be holding my nose while voting for Obama, and puking my guts as I leave the polling place."

Why would you vote for someone you can't stand?

17. Because He Can't Stand the Repigs Even More, I Suppose
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 11:32 PM by AndyTiedye
Since even the worst compromises Obama makes are way better than what the Teabaggers have been proposing,
and that's what we would get from any of the Republicans.

The fewer votes we have, the more compromises we have to make. It sucks, I know.

27. "He'll lose either way though. The dude is clueless. He's driving his base away bit by bit."
So you're planning on compromising your valuable principles for a "clueless" person who is goint to "lose either way though"

Sounds like a massive case of issues!

39. That is correct.
I have issues. Happy now?

Even though I think Obama has blown it big time, I will vote for him over any rethug candidate.

I will also remain pissed at his cowardice and betrayal though, and plan to leave the US after he loses the election to the thugs.

40. You finally got it. It IS about issues!
For some though, it's about one man as opposed to millions of Americans, those least able to speak for themselves.

I would say that anyone who continues to support a politician who does not represent the best interests of the American people, especially the most vulnerable, has a few personal issues of their own. In fact I blame such voters for the situation we are now in.

No politician should have ever been allowed to believe they could count on anyone's vote, no matter what they do. That was the disasterous 'strategy' that led us to where we are today.

What the people need is to organize now and develop strategies that work for them. DC works for Wall St.

And every relevant Senator and Congressman will be hearing from me, too.

Durbin is my Senator, and a member of the gang of six. This makes me ill.

The alternate universe of DU where people must primary the president whether they want to or not.

6. People don't really understand how hard it is to beat an incumbent...
Even if the republicans had better candidates, it would still be hard for them to beat the incumbent Obama.

15. Yet we have those who believe there are Progressives who have a moral obligation to primary Obama,
turning their lives upside down for a year or more and putting themselves millions of dollar in debt just to pander to the wishes of the far left to push Obama to the left.

So, if Obama is really the great deceiver and promise they think him to be wouldn't he just pledge to move to the left and then fooling them again by not doing it?

Yes, that's brilliant. Primary Obama to move him to the left only to have him move to the middle for the general election, as does anyone who is actually interested in winning the presidency. I don't see the nobility of running a great Liberal purist who get his ass kicked in the general election. The point of having a candidate is to have one who can actually win.

37. Pushing him to the left is a bad thing?
I guess we should just shut the fuck up, huh? Eat our peas, so to speak, just shut up and vote for him?

I'll vote for him, even after he cuts Social Security and Medicare, because he's not as bad as the alternative. Push him to the left? He's just gonna sell us out again. Yeah, I'll shut up and vote for him. But I won't be happy about it. The PEOPLE are more liberal on the issues than he is. But he's being led by his Wall Street contributors.

So all of us should just shut the fuck up ... he's got this.

Right.

21. It isn't that anyone thinks it would be easy.
It is important to not allow Obama's ideology to be the definition of what it means to be a Democrat nor is it acceptable to allow this crap to be rubberstamped without a whimper of dissent. Not when we are going into the tank and being sold off cheap to the wealthy and the corporations for which they stand.

What can we profit even if we gain the whole world when we have already sold our soul?

We are going down a road where winning is impossible. I'll take the ghost of a chance over trying to lose in a not as bad as the opposition wants in their wildest dreams.

13. You are right, I missed it
It just seems so lame to be bitching about Obama when the election is so far off.
We don't even know how the race will shape up.

Glad to see, FINALLY, that congress is recognized for its import.

Now, if we can just make sure our votes are counted correctly.....

President Obama wasn't elected because he was a minority. He was elected because he could do the best job to get this country moving. What a shame to see that kind of crap on here.

12. I feel the same, Chris...
I will vote for him.

NO time spent working for him.

NO money.

NO calling or canvassing.

Out of many gestures comes a mighty wave...

I am saddened that he has marginalized us, his base, in his pursuit of .......what? Reaching out to Republicans? or who?

He had so much good will going for him upon becoming President. He has thrown much of it away...

Recommended.

34. Perhaps in the pursuit of corporate money for the re-election campaign?
In pursuit of those with deeper pockets than the ones who brought him to the dance?

In the pursuit of those who might put him into a prestigious, highly paid board of director job in 2017? (or 2013, depending)

That's a few that come to mind, Peg...:hi:
