How do you get a deal or do you prefer the country go into default? A serious question...as that's the shit sandwich this administration has walked into.
This is a game of 60...60 votes in the Senate and at least 60 rushpublican house votes to get something passed and save this country from going into an economic freefall. I don't like this situation but it is what it is. And you do have a large number of rushpublicans who want the country to go into default solely to destroy this President and put the blame at the workers and the unions. Not a pretty picture out there.
The fact the country faces a default says how screwed this economy and government system is. Billions are being squandered but politicians have little will to cut the corporate welfare string that create jobs (mostly defense) in their districts or put money in their campaign coffers. The little guy doesn't stand a chance. The problem is an administration that also feels that its doing a "big thing"...the "one America" thing when it compromises Progressive and Democratic values to get a deal done.
Right now all this administration and most of the Senate see are 60 votes. What will it take? Stay tuned...I suspect we'll be in for a wild ride from now through August 2nd.
