Cenk Uygur out at MSNBC - Officially
Per 'Deadline', he will "boldly discuss his departure from MSNBC" during a teleconference tomorrow.

My bet is that he will join Keith Olbermann at Current.

He should have kept "The Young Turks" persona on MSNBC.

I am glad he is gone, I knew before his show what he would say. He was just too negative for me and I do not need the negativity. Also, his show became a free for all.

87. And Jonathon Turley's support of Clinton's impeachmetn destroyed his credibility

and any claim he had for common sense.

You can have Turley, I will take Sharpton any day of the week.

http://jonathanturley.org/2007/08/20/clinton-impeachment-testimony-house-judiciary-committee/

It is my view that the allegations in this inquiry, if proven, would constitute clear and compelling grounds for impeachment and the submission of this matter to the United States Senate for a determination of the merits.

110. "Too negative" ...?... maybe try the Food Network.
In case you haven't noticed - things are pretty bad out there right now... and too many people have their heads buried in the sand and feel that if they just close their eyes tight enough, they won't have to see their neighbors lose their homes, starve or die without a shred of healthcare. Sorry to be such a downer - but that's just the facts.

62. What breaks the rules at DU or is not valid about questionng the
policies and integrity of POTUS Obama?

I have been a Democratic Party member longer than Obama and took more personal risks and hits than POTUS Obama in my professional and education career to support basic moralty that I supposed a base ethic of the Democratic Party.

I truly "Believed" in Candidate Obama" rather than a lesser of evils candidate.

POTUS Obama in action is to the Right of Nixon with less transparency.

People need to give it a chance instead of just assuming the 8pm time-slot won't be good because KO isn't there.

Actually LO's show has been better than KO's show most nights, but its blasphemy to say that because so many people lack objectivity.

Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 07:48 PM by SoCalDem
Michael Steele is a permanent fixture on almost ALL of their "shows"
and of course they will always have their resident racist/xenophobe "Uncle Pat"..

Offering Sharpton a "show" will temper things when they give Steele his own..

What's the difference?

Steele...mainstreamish, buttoned down, well-groomed, well-spoken black man

Sharpton... anything BUT mainstreamish, bombastic, flamboyant, and lacking the "whitebread" pronunciation of so many words..can't read a teleprompter to save his life.

Al comes with decades-old "baggage" that immediately discredits him in many people's eyes, and MSNBC knows that...He's a great guest, but as a host..not so much.

Ed will be next.. He's already been suspended once, and if he keeps up the pressure, and he will be gone too..

Cenk was never really "permanent", but I'm sure he hoped he would be soon..

38. seriously, I can't understand the hate.
any loss of a progressive voice is a real loss for our side. We don't have many progressive voices to lose, unless people think having 100 conservative voices to 10 liberal is a good thing.

And i really hope Rev Al gets a time slot, but there is absolutely no guarantee he will.

107. Only rightwingers dislike Cenk with a purple passion?
News to me. I can't stand him, and never could. Personally, if I never saw his slimey face, or heard his whiney assed voice again, it would be too soon.

What I don't understand is so many "progressives" falling for the Johnny Come Lately's. Ed, Cenk, & Arianna all used to be Repukes, but now they're suddenly to left of Hugo Chavez? Just doesn't compute. :hi:

94. Interesting what you say..."I can't understand the hate." It goes to the Left here on this site...
as much or perhaps MORE than to the Right.

I wonder why that is. I try not to probe further...lest it make me sick. I try to keep thinking that whatever we can do here to move Progressives Thoughts...along with Voices for Truth...will eventually...eventually...win out. So we try to take our losses ..even though we are starting to realize that "there is an enemy within us" that we must learn to be aware of.

If you get my drift..:-(

42. Cenk should've taken the 7PM ET slot that has the Hardball rerun
still this is yet another loss of a great left-wing voice in a right-wing-dominated media, but TYT reaches a lotta people through Youtube.

Rev Al has actually put his bacon on the line to help others and fight for justice ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. What has cenk done other than run his big, fat, cynical mouth?

Never thought that someone who has been out there marching for liberal and progressive issues for decades while armchair liberals bloviated from their keyboards, would be considered some sort of tool. I guess DU's name should really be changed.

88. Many DU'ers will be Applauding this...they wanted Cenk out...and dutifully "some"
made sure we knew that he was "culled."

Yet many of the same folks were TRASHING Reverend Al Sharpton over Tawanna Brawley case and calling him an "Opportunist" and not someone who was credible to listen to.

Fascinating how this all goes down...these days ...here in our universe.

I've only seen a few shows as he's been filling it, but they've been good. I thought Cenk was okay too--he had some great moments, but I didn't think his show was spectacular. I hope he lands somewhere and continues to develop his talent.

102. I'd rather see David Shuster
I'd rather see David Shuster on current than Cenk. The trouble with Al Sharpton and Cenk Unger is their voices, they grate on me. Al's delivery irritates me too. I know they can't help how they are, they just don't have broadcasting veices.

I hope to see them both at Current. Schuster appears to be on track for his own show. And I hope Cenk gets a chance to do his part to show the right wingers at MSNBC that there's a place for guys like him.
