Extremely Unfair Deal
President Obama a few minutes ago said the deal he was willing to agree to with Republicans was a "extraordinarily fair deal". That deal was not in any way fair. It was completely unfair to the middle class and the poor. The Democrats were willing to give up $1.65 trillion in cuts for only $1.2 trillion in tax increases/revenue increases. The vast majority of the burden of this deal was going to go on the backs of the middle class and the poor.

The only thing that was remotely good about this deal is that it took away any ability for the Republicans to blame the breakdown on Democrats. There is no way that the Republicans can seriously point fingers at the Democrats for this deal not going through.

5. I'm withholding judgement on Obama
until I see what results.

IF in the final deal, he allows cuts to Social Security while leaving in tax breaks for corporate jets, etc., he can talk all he wants at the podium but I will despise him for not sticking up for average Americans.

7. Obama plays poker, not chess.
He was willing to start a war with Pakistan to kill OBL, what is cutting social programs at home compared to that? It is SAD that people are now equating debt ceiling with SSI. Sad.
