"DeMint Dismisses Default Threat"
Maybe it is time to become a Republican and try to live in their fantasy world, so that we need not be concerned about the impending default. Oh, and if we do default, and bad things happen, watch the media conveniently forget the Republicans who dismiss the threat of default, and blame Democrats.

Sen. Jim DeMint, who is leading a hard-line band of Senate Republicans against raising the debt ceiling unless a constitutional amendment passes Congress, dismissed the threat of a default Sunday.

“We’re not going to default,” the South Carolina Republican said on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” adding that White House budget director Jacob Lew didn’t say in interviews Sunday that the country would not be able to pay interest on the debt if the ceiling is not raised Aug. 2. Some government obligations would not be paid, Lew said.

DeMint put the pressure to meet the Treasury Department’s August deadline on Democrats, saying it would be up to them to decide whether to agree to the balanced budget amendment to the Constitution and to the Republican “cut, cap and balance” proposal.

“We’ve got to draw a line in the sand now, because the day of reckoning is gonna come, and the longer we put it off, the bigger the problems are gonna be for our country,” he said.

1. I've long said that this is the guy to be afraid of
He's just as much a godfather to tea party Repukes as Sarah Palin was their godmother. She was the visible one, but he was just as effective at getting them on the ballots, then elected. He knows they're his power base for the future.

2. I wonder if that is how they pay their family bills.
Just pay the interest charges or just not pay them? I know there were quite a few here in WI that were tax delinquent many times. The Dems didn't do ads about it of course then, but this time someone is. The Il. lawyer running against Wirch here in Kenosha in the recalls still owes back taxes and was caught for tax evasion, so some PAC is sure running the ads on it...good for them, we've needed surrogates to do the dirty work for a long time...

4. This reminds me a new plot for an Irwin Allen disaster movie.
