An airport employee was accidentally shot by a passenger who was trying to check a hunting rifle at Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office received a call on the shooting shortly before 10:30 a.m.
The passenger, Edward Deubler, 65, of Harvey was issued a misdemeanor summons for negligent injury, said Sgt. Larry Dyess, Sheriff's Office spokesman.
Deubler had been trying to check the rifle with an employee at the United Airlines ticket counter when the weapon discharged, Dyess said.
