President's dream of compromise has turned into nightmare...
He is finally waking up and rubbing his eyes. The stark truth is upon him.

The Republicans are not that really into compromise.

Unfortunately, not everybody in Washington is ready to sit down and do what is best for this country.

It's time for a new game, Mr President.

1. He'll just keep going in the same direction.
Obama does not change course.

3. The problem for Obama is that he's already shown the opposition the sort of metall he's made of.
And it ain't fine alloy steel.

They know now that he can be rolled easily and they'll
keep on doing it. He should have been tough from Day 1;
now it's far too late.

4. They want him to agree to cut Social Security and Medicare
He appears to want to sneak it in (AKA "Entitlement Reform"), but the public ain't buyin it.

The Tea Baggers need Obama to give them cover for their suicidal votes in the House to gut SS and Medicare.

In effect, Obama would be propping up the House GOP if he agrees to any "Entitlement Reform". Social Security and Medicare are both solvent for years to come and don't add a penny to the deficit. So why are they even on the table?

6. He's waking up?
What I heard last night was still much of the same variations on "Both sides need to...." and a lot more bits and pieces of "John Boehner is a good man who loves his country and is working on a compromise."

If our congress person is or are Democrats, what are we supposed to call them and say? Because what I heard last night was that we were supposed to do that, even though if we call them and say what we really want, it will go against what he wants, which is a "compromise" in the Republican sense of the word.

Did I miss where he specifically said that the Republicans have refused to budge even when given plans that give them everything they want? And that if your congressperson is a republican you should call them and tell them to support this plan and ask them why they are still refusing?

I didn't hear the whole speech so admittedly maybe there was a part where he put to lie the whole notion that it was "both sides" refusing to budge and finally called out the repubs for bearing all the blame on holding this up. If I did I'd love to hear that excerpt.
