White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is Disappointed they Can't Deal with "Entitlements"
Edited on Tue Jul-26-11 12:40 PM by jtown1123
I can't believe what I am seeing and hearing. Carney is pretty much begging the GOP to come together with the President to "reform" entitlements during the debt deal.

Watching Jay Carney live...just disgusting. Will post transcript with key tidbits once it's over.

*Update* Reporter just asked Carney what White House callers are saying and he says he doesn't know...irresponsible, so effed up. Doesn't know and doesn't care what the public wants in this deal.

1. As disgusting as that is it's also a lie. They are going to "reform" "entitlements"
they'll simply hide behind another commission when doing so.

3. "Gutted Social Security and Medicare" would certainly finish off the accomplishments list, no?
It would finish off Obama too. The fact he either can't see this, or doesn't care, speaks volumes about him, nothing good.

5. Every time a right-winger say 'entitlement"
I can feel their grubby little hands trying to pick my pocket
and steal my life's savings.

They need to speak honestly. And the truth is the republicans
want to destroy SS and Medicare. That's their religion.

6. Jay Carney
so worldy wise - little effing smart ass with no real world experience

he doesn't know and doesn't WANT to know

We All KNOW what the calls are about, but frankly these bastards just don't give a shit - we just keep paying them the big bucks to screw us over and over again

7. They have to say that.
They have the republicans hanging on a short rope over a cliff, they can't come out and make it look like they never were going to compromise at all, that's what the republicans are doing. The WH is playing their cards, one at a time and each card is designed to keep the idiot republicans defending their stand "against" any kind of a compromise, even when they are getting everything they wanted in the first place! The WH is playing hardball with the republicans, and republicans don't know how to get out of the mess they have gotten themselves into, and the WH is not going to give them anything to help the get out!

15. My wife has been teaching for 11 years in one of the higher
paying states for educators, and she does not make $60,000. She has a Master's Degree.

13. If they decide to stop paying entitlement benefits
can I decide to stop paying the taxes that come out of my paycheck every two weeks to support them?

I didn't think so.

18. Please don't complain until it's too late
Nothing's happened yet, but when it does, then you will be entitled to be told that it's your own fault for not speaking up sooner, that the selling out of the Democrats' base was pretty obvious for months, and tough noogies.

Can we please not get ahead of the schedule? We need this period of foreplay before the screw job.

19. Obama simply has a fetish for slashing entitlements
Soon after taking office, he created the Deficit Commission charged with (and designed to) recommend deep cuts in entitlements:
