State med board reprimands psychiatrist who prescribed 12 drugs to 6-year-old

(via drudge RETORT): "L.A. psychiatrist disciplined over treatment of 6-year-old":

Dr. Nicole Poliquin-Williams was issued a public reprimand by the Medical Board of California on July 15.

Poliquin-Williams had been investigated for failing to properly diagnose, dose and keeps records of the medications she prescribed to the boy and another patient, a 36-year-old woman, according to the Medical Board.

The 6-year-old was brought to her for treatment by his adoptive parents in 2005, suffering from temper tantrums, mood swings and sleeping problems, according to the accusation. Poliquin-Williams diagnosed him with bipolar disorder and prescribed him medications that included Ritalin, Risperdal, lithium and Prozac.

Poliquin-Williams also diagnosed the 36-year-old with bipolar disorder and prescribed her multiple psychotropic medications from 2001 to 2006, according to the accusation.

Poliquin-Williams, according to her Avvo profile, is apparently a native of the Canadian province Quebec. Here's the full reprimand document by the California medical board.

1. I should have sued also

1,000 milligrams a day of Cipro for 10 days for a 100 lb. woman. I almost went blind. Every other doctor I went to said that was too much medication for someone my size. One size DOES NOT FIT ALL. Just because chronologically I am an adult, LOOK AT MY SIZE. I am CHILD sized in comparison to most Americans today.
Thank god, I don't have children these doctors are prescribing for.

... there are some psychiatrists that simply "suck." She is clearly the poster child for incompetence.

Unfortunately, she holds the health, safety and well being of other living beings in her hands.

My med prof friend won't prescribe 'Risperdal' or 'Ritalin'.
