Well, this morning I finally did something besides get on DU and complain...
I mailed letters to my 2 US Senators and US Rep telling them what I think they should do about the
debt mess. In short, don't eff with SS & Medicare, cut military spending, tax the upper income people and corporations more.

2. Good for you. I wish more people would contact their Congressmen and give them the whatfor.
That's what they are there for: to serve the people.

They just forget that every once in awhile, between lunch paid for by lobbyists and dinner paid for by lobbyists.

Just restrict oneself to complaining on DU or in RL?

12. This deal is going down, it's all drama.

The entire apparatus of ruling class opinion is working to stampede the people into thanking them for s beating.

There is no recourse for the people in electoral politics, all aspects are antithetical to popular interests. Only mass politics, millions in the street with purpose and discipline, can counter the forces we face. It's a tough row to hoe but there is no practical alternative.

6. I've been told by both Kerry's staff and Barney Frank's staff that handwritten letters are good.
I've heard other politicians say they give more credence to them than a bunch of form-letter type emails that all say the same thing.

I try to do one per month, if for no other reason than to remind myself how to write instead of type. :)

13. 2 days isn't that long.
And the phones are often busy for hours at time, especially on big issues. Do both. :)
