Lawerence O'Donnell needs to get his history straight
At the close of last nights show he stated that Obama was the only recent Democrat to run for President who ran on raising taxes on the rich. He specificly mentioned that Clinton didn't do so. Well, there is a word for that. It is totally wrong. Here is a link to a pdf of a campaign flier from 1992:

http://www.4president.org/brochures/billclinton1992brochure.htm

Here is a relevant quote

BILL CLINTON OFFERS AN ECONOMIC PLAN TO COMPETE AND PROSPER IN THE WORLD ECONOMY

Bill Clinton will cut taxes for the middle class and make the rich pay their fair share.

Mr. O'Donnell clearly hates Clinton with the burning intensity of a thousand suns. He has a right to that opinion. He doesn't have a right to make shit up to stoke that hatred.

1. His memory is very selective especially about Clinton
that is partly due to his own dislike of Clinton, but also because Larry just needs a Democratic comparison to Obama, and Larry is a fiction writer. Many on DU, for example, claim Larry 'worked in the WH' when he actually worked on a TV show about the WH, his real life experience was as a Congressional staffer. He gives the 'impression' that he is an insider.

3. Honestly what really galls me about him is when he states
as he has repeatedly done, that gays didn't protest Clinton and thus we are racist when we protested Obama. That is baldly false and he well knows it.

9. Agreed-- I've noticed he custom fits the facts to support whatever
argument he's using at the moment.

2. Mondale, in his acceptance speech in 1984, also called for a tax hike on the rich.

as I couldn't vote for him since I was too young.

5. I'm no big fan of Bill Clinton, but on this you are 100% correct and I
remember Clinton's proposal to raise marginal tax rates on the rich.

On a funny note, I always get Lawrence O'Donnell confused with Kenneth O'Donnell (who worked in the JFK White House and really was an insider :)

6. Uh, President Obama is not running on taxing the rich.
He's running on NOT cutting them again.

You, and ODonnell, bought into right-wing framing if you believe he wants to raise them.

7. He pointed out that Obama did run on increasing taxes on the rich in 08
he wanted to end the tax cuts for them early which would have been an increase. That is what O'Donnell said and on that part he is right.

8. O'Donnell is one of the better Journalists but he does at times
push the establishment line.

Heck, I remember in one of his speeches, Clinton told
the Haves --wait until you see what I plan for you.
Or was that a Doctor's group.

Bill Clinton's success as a politician is knowing when
to hold them and when to fold them. Bill Clinton knew
HOW and WHEN to use Populism. He knew the importance
of Populism and would not be inhibited. Timing is everything
in Politics and Bill has perfect timing.
