Broken water main pipe nearly fixed

The Louisville Water Company said Thursday they are days away from fixing that four-foot wide pipe that ruptured on July 11.

Workers expect to have the last of a 40-foot long section of pipe in place by Friday. Once that is done LWC will disinfect the pipe, fill it with water and perform quality sampling before it goes back into service.

Thousands of homes and businesses went under a boil water advisory when the pipe ruptured.

Broken water main floods Aloha streets

-snip-

The broken 8-inch water main was located in 4200-block of SW Stoddard Road. The break knocked out power in the area as well.

Crews were able to turn off the water around 5 p.m. and the flood was receding.

The pipe had a 12" to 15" hole in it and there was no construction going on in the area at the time, so crews were trying to figure out what caused it.
