I wonder if it is better or worse that this administration was born directly from the senate? On one hand it seems like it's one thing to have staff and aides be watching for procedural tricks, but direct experience and personal history with the legislators might be an advantage over having a Governor. I'm sure that there may also be disadvantages. What say you?

Sometimes it is consoling to think it could have been worse or that we have gotten particularly good results in a horrible predicament. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, but I am a little uncomfortable with the situation generally.

3. Obama didn't really have an extensive stint in the Senate |

and a pretty good stretch of it was spent on the campaign trail. I don't see any advantage here at all.

4. Well - I do see one down side. |

Obama voted against the increase in 2006 (and issued an unfortunate statement) and did not vote on it at all in 2007 and 2008. For that reason I think he has tried to change the subject away from the 14th Amendment.

6. He had been in the IL state senate |

If anyone did, it seems like Biden would be the one who benefitted most since he had a long history and had developed personal relationships with staff on both sides. Staff sometimes know more than the people they work for. Gossip goes a long way. Maybe that gamble was based on inside info?
