What a white guy
Mitt the Nit Wit
By: Pamela Leavey
April 30th, 2011 @ 7:40 pm
Mitt Romney opened his mouth and inserted his foot with a line that could have gotten in him a heap of trouble. He caught himself, sort of and wormed out his bad choice of words…

The transcript…

"Do you remember that during the Ronald Reagan-Jimmy Carter debates, that Ronald Reagan came up with this great thing about the Misery Index? And he hung that around Jimmy Carter’s neck and that had a lot to do with Jimmy Carter losing. Well we’re going to have to hang the Obama Misery Index around his neck.

And I’ll tell you, the fact that you’ve got people in this country really squeezed with gasoline getting so expensive, with commodities getting so expensive, families are having a hard time making ends meet. So we’re going to have to do talk about that, and housing foreclosures and bankruptcies and and hire taxation. We’re going to hang him with that — uh, so to speak, metaphorically, with, uh, you have to be careful these days, I learned that — with an Obama Misery Index."

Of course the “misery index” Mitt Romney was talking about will only get worse with a Republican in the White House. President Obama’s been cleaning up after the disastrous 8 year reign of Bush II. That’s where our current misery started. Obama was saddled with that when elected, and from where I sit, we’re doing a whole lot better than we were.
Yes, Mitt we all know “people are hurting” but your party attempts to thwart every effort made to bring relief. So take that “misery index” and wear it as your own mantle, Mitt — it suits you to a tee… Mitt the nit wit.

2. Mitt wants to lynch Obama...
if there was a democratic cable news channel comparable to Fox repuke propaganda stations, that is what they would be saying for the next week...

11. Mitt is the one Republican who has been extremely careful to
avoid the Birther Bit and other racial outbursts by others.

This is why no one has tried to twist this around on Romney.

Here is the tried and true rule for seriously attacking a
candidate. YOU GO FOR THEIR STRENGTH or their strong points.

Mitts strength, IMO, Business Background and turning around
failing businesses. Governor with some degree of success.
(This is the target that counts).

10. The "misery index" does nothing to measure the actual misery felt by people in an economy
The Inflation rate plus the unemployment rate equals a meaningless number. One percent inflation does not create the misery equal to millions of people being forced out of their livelihood and driven into poverty.

13. It's not a reference to lynching
It's a reference to "The Ryme of the Ancient Mariner", as in hanging an albatross around his neck.

Romney is a slimeball, but he wasn't going there.

And pardon your arrogance,
but you don't get to decide.

15. Isn't the only person who can determine what Mitt meant Mitt himself?
That being said, of course we can speculate and the fact he tried to make a joke about what he said as it came out of his mouth can be taken both ways. I dunno if it was a manifestation of unconscious racism or if Mittens simply realized the moment the words came out of his mouth how badly they could be taken. Or both. Part of me thinks if it were *conscious* racism that he would have avoided using the phrase because he would have realized how bad it might sound, but ... I dunno.

But if you do happen to have telepathy and can read his mind, mind giving me some lessons?

21. A history of politics and political science is all that's needed.
To start you out research "Southern Strategy" "Dogwhistle politics" and " Stochastic terrorism".

22. In our new postmodern world what the person actually ment no longer matters, apparently.
All that matters is what everyone else thinks it means. So now words like "niggardly" are thought offensive because ignorant people THINK it's related to the N-Word.

I'm not the one rewriting a 200 year old, commonly accepted literary device to fit my own narrative.
