I attended the CA Democratic Convention today
It was incredible and really got the campaign juices flowing. Speeches by Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsome, Secretary of State Debra Bowen, my boss, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, State Controller John Chiang, Treasury Secretary Lockyer, Assembly Speaker Perez and many others. But the best part was listening to Senator Bernie Sanders. I love his passion and his love for the American people. I had the opportunity to talk with him backstage and i'm still buzzing. I also spoke with former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, who I think is one of the best thinkers of our time. It was a fantastic day and I'll sleep well tonight. Thank you to my neighbor Greg, the past chair of the Sacramento Democratic Party and political director for the Sacramento Labor Council, for making it all possible. You know, I think we can take it back in 2012!

Was there much talk about the Congressional Progressive Caucus's budget?
Bernie Sanders would probably have mentioned it . . . ?

Good to hear you're excited about 2012! I wish we could feel that way here in Kansas.

1. I notice Moonbeam had the decency not to attend.
Good choice.

If you go along with austerity, you stop being a Democrat.

All Jerry has done has been to crush hopes. The poor, the workers, and the young don't matter to him. If they did, he'd fight against all the cuts.

All he cares about are the people who write big checks...the ones who want a "Democratic" party dismantling the New Deal so they can pretend they're not responsible for continuing Reaganism.

I'm glad you got to hear REAL Democrats...the kind who actually fight for the people.

3. Wise of him to schedule it this weekend, still.
Gave him a reason to avoid a crowd that would probably boo him offstage.
