Heres a prime example from the very liberal New Yorker magazine, titled Why Obama Really Might Need a Teleprompter, by Alex Koppelman, October 16, 2012:
I understand how this sounds: an apologia for Obamaor, worse, a hagiography. You all dont understand Obama because hes too smart for you. NoGod, no. Im not even saying that Obama is smarter than Romney; I have no idea which of the two is smarter, and Im not sure that such a thing would really matter. What Im saying is that Obama has a tic seen all too often in intelligent people: I am smart, I know many things. Let me demonstrate to you how smart I am and how many things I know. That may be acceptable in certain situations, but it doesnt work at a Presidential debate.
