General Discussion

Let's start here.

It's mid 2000's and I'm traveling a lot for work. Global travel... I was the company expert on ONE piece of machinery found in most every one of our facilities in the world. I spent time in China, lots of time in China.

For years I'd wear an Adidas jersey when I was out and about, maybe an Olympic soccer jersey, maybe Bundesliga.

Anything to avoid being ID'd as American.

Otherwise I'd have to discuss asshole.

I don't want this to turn into an essay but I'll summarize.

The campaign was exhilarating, the victory(ies) were the greatest joy of my life (one of)

And we could talk about the USA again overseas... where EVERYONE asked me about our young dynamic black President.

In conclusion, he was the first and only POTUS I CAN RELATE TO.

My age, my generation, my background... he looks and speaks like the guys I WORKED WITH.

EDIT: I could add so much more. The way he handled himself and respected the White House and his position. The way he treated others. The way he made people FEEL. His cool as the other side of the pillow demeanor. I slept every night knowing that everything was OK. Some criticized him for being completely inoffensive, a pure class act.

That's not to mention his accomplishments starting with the recovery from 2008 and I'd argue this was tougher than COVID because of politics... and the single accomplishment of the ACA is the greatest since FDR.

P.S. just realized you might not have really been interested in my thoughts, just trying to throw shade... I hope not.
