Though these days even non vegetarian/vegans dont get enough B12. I have a friend group of 10 or so mostly vegans and a couple vegetarians and weve all been extremely healthy by learning about nutrition and eating balanced diets of beans, legumes and other vegetables and not being afraid of starches like potatoes and pasta.
Each to his own, but there is no better diet that Im aware of (and Ive done plenty of research and attended education events by well respected medical and nutrition experts) to prevent and reverse heart disease than a plant based one. But to your point, you certainly wont be getting the nutrition you need if all you eat is salad 🙂

What a scare. Interestig the pain went away as soon as stent inserted and drugs irrelevant.
