If some of you are not familiar with Hy-Vee, they are a large supermarket chain headquartered in Des Moines. And they are proving that they don't care about lower income people and elderly people who dont get around too well. Bottom line only for this corporation.
The reason I'm saying this is because they recently announced they are shutting down several stores, all of which are located in lower income areas and all the closings will create a food desert in the areas. This includes the one a few blocks from my house. And i know there is one in Moline. IL which is a lower income area and one in Cedar Rapids which is also, yep, you guessed it, lower income.
All three stores have been remodeled in the past few years and not for the best. In the case of the one near my house, they removed the service meat counter, the bakery, the deli, and some fruit and vegetable selections for a great big walk in cooler and expanded liquor selection. I can get beer anywhere. I'd rather get food at a grocery store. Therefore i believe they set it up to fail. The Cedar Rapids location actually got a grant or loan or something to rebuild a run down store. And this does not even take into account the people who work at these stores. So once again, i am asking you all to boycott Hy-Vee. And maybe drop them a line and/or call them like i did. Tell them you are unhappy about leaving food deserts for people who are already needy or immobile and unable to travel to another store for basic needs.
Thank you for reading my rant. I hope it isn't completely incoherent. Btw, if you live in Iowa, it is a certainty that you've heard of the above named grocery chain.

A person cant even have fun in this country
It seems that we cant even have fun in this country anymore. Fans gather for a celebration of their teams championship, a shooting happens. People go to a concert in Vegas, a shooting happens. People go to a nightclub in Orlando, yep, a shooting happens. Not to mention many schools, department stores and every other place getting shot up.
Around here, there are several businesses that have "no firearms allowed" signs on the entrance door. This fucking madness has to stop.
And i am not anti gun, but i am anti semi automatic guns. Weapons of war have no place in everyday life.
What happened to this once great state?
We are bordered by Illinois. Bluer than blue, Minnesota, fairly blue, and Wisconsin, which has problems but is at least purple. We won't mention Missouri or Nebraska. But anyway, there are plenty of progressives near here. But this state is deep red. It's almost like we sank into a wedge between Alabama and Mississippi. I don't like it. We've had some decent Governors, although not for many years. The Democratic party has no real candidates for Governor except maybe Rob Sand. Maybe. Our dictator, er, governor and her cohorts are waging war on education, women's freedoms, poor people, immigrants, and on and on. I used to love this state. But not anymore.

No, actually it took about as much research and brain power as saying that they lost because of "wokeness" like most of the anti American crowd was saying.

Ok as I'm sure everyone is aware of, the Powerball drawing has reached unbelievable heights. So naturally a lot of people are playing, including us. No real expectation of winning but we can afford $2.00 every now and then to buy a ticket. We'll, the guy that lives two houses north of me played and miraculously won a million dollars. That's $1,000,000. Yes, that's a lot of money. And when he got interviewed by local media he said all the things one would expect. Going to fix the house, help out the grandkids, etc. All well and good. Now here's where the injustice comes in. This guy is a hard core trumpite. His yard and house had and has trump garbage everywhere and he wears that damn red cap every time I see him anywhere.
It should have been a Biden backer who would donate to good candidates and/or causes. But nooo, it had to be a trumpite. Well I guess there's no reason to complain. He just got extremely lucky and I hope he enjoys the money. But damn.... A trumpite. Just doesn't seem fair.
